Domenico Carere was born in 1971 in Reggio Calabria, where he discovered
his vocation for music at the age of nine. As a child, after attending a
classical guitar recital, he wrote in his diary: “When I grow up I want
to live with the guitar!” – a dream that would actually come true.
Having graduated in classical guitar at the “S. Cecilia” Conservatory in
Rome in 1992, he perfected his art under the guidance of internationally
renowned masters such as Giuliano Balestra, Oscar Ghiglia and Alirio
Diaz. His artistic career led him to perform in Italy and abroad, both
as a soloist and in chamber groups, winning numerous national
competitions.
A multifaceted and nonconformist artist, Domenico ranges from classical
guitar to ukulele, from traditional repertoire to new age
experimentation. Among his most significant projects stands out “Intense
Life – esistere non è vivere”, a musical show that reflects his eclectic
vision of music.
Founder of the festival “La festa della chitarra” and of the Guitar
School at La Bottega della Musica, he has published several works
including the album “Pedros Traum” and the books “Guitar Workout –
sprigiona il tuo vero talento” and “Manuale di ukulele”. His passion for
teaching led him to obtain the Teaching Diploma at the London College of
Music, joining the Registry of Guitars Tutor. A lover of freedom, the
sea and nature, Domenico Carere infuses his concerts and interpretations
with the same intensity that characterizes his approach to life. He
plays a fine 1985 Vincenzo De Bonis guitar and a 2019 Rafal Turkowiak,
instruments that in his hands become vehicles of emotions and stories to
tell.
